The The Belinga Foundation’s Santé Zéro Health Campaign was at Loum
On November 27, 2024, the technical team of THE BELINGA FOUNDATION, accompanied by doctors from the health areas and specialists in ophthalmology and dental care from the city of Ebolowa, carried out a descent into the village of LOUM (a village located on the Mengong-Sangmelima road in the Fale II group) as part of the « SANTE ZERO » initiative.
As usual, the health Campaign aimed to contribute to access to quality health services at a low cost, by bringing medicine closer to rural populations. Specifically, the descent allowed for free consultations and health care; providing medications at a low cost and on-site to the population; identifying local public health needs and proposing sustainable solutions.
This November 27, 2024 redition, began with the arrival of the technical teams and their installation at the site reserved by the chief of the LOUM health center, Mr. NGONO THIERY SOSTHENE, followed by his welcome speech. Then, registration, orientation and awareness of the population about the Campaign followed. The campaign continued with consultations and prescription of medications according to the diseases. Let’s state that Mrs. NKOUM SARA organized an educational talk with the elderly and disabled on healthy and active aging, and the importance of self-confidence despite disability. She also sensitized the entire population on the fight against HIV/AIDS, the prevention of mother-to-child transmission, and gave other advice on accentuating the prevention of HIV/AIDS, co-infections, and comorbidities that can be caused by AIDS.
Statistically, forty-one (41) people were consulted, including fourteen (14) for ophthalmology problems, twenty-five (25) patients in the general framework, and two (02) cases for dental pathologies. The medications brought and sold at a discount allowed us to collect 63,000 CFA francs, which reflects the state of health needs in Loum. »
