
On October 12, 2024, The Belinga Foundation organized another edition of its traditional « Soir Au Village » (Village Evening) activity, aimed at reconnecting with the Ekang clan roots and exploring the rich cultural and historical heritage of the region. This edition focused on presenting the genealogical tree of the people of ENDAM II village, expertly done by the village chief, as well as the genealogical tree of EMANEMVAM village by Elder AZOMBO EKO EMMANUEL.

Participants also had the opportunity to discover the traditional dances of the Bulu and Fang-Beti clans, which showcased the region’s rich cultural heritage. Gathered around a large fire, speakers took turns sharing the rich patrimony of the forest peoples, in order to associate younger generations in the preservation effort through transmission.At the end, awards were given to deserving actors to motivate the population supporting this back-to-roots project. Mr. MFOU’OU SAMBA JOSEPH, The Regional Representative of The Belinga Foundation, called on the population to stand united and make collective decisions regarding village matters. He also emphasized the importance of fostering unity and working towards peaceful coexistence. As for Mr. ESSAME MEKOULOU KEVIN, Chief of Emanemvam village, he expressed his gratitude to The Belinga Foundation for its dedicated work in promoting Ekang clan culture and art, as well as other foundational sectors of sustainable development such as health and education.

The curtains closed on this edition with the vibrant hope of seeing future editions continue to preserve and promote African culture and art. According to shared opinion, these « Soir Au Village » activities contribute to strengthening the cultural identity of local communities and transmitting traditions and customs to future generations. And the expectations is that of seeing this initiative grow.
